Hi! My name is Elaine Obbink and I am very excited to be joining the design team for ScrapVille. I began scrapbooking just before my daughter was born 15 years ago.
Scrapbooking is an opportunity for me to tell a story. Sometimes it is a snapshot of an ordinary day reminding me of moments that I don’t want to forget. I always want to remember how much my daughter loved eating butter on her waffles when she was 3. The story can be about a treasured family vacation, such as our road trips to grandpa and grandma’s house. You can see a lot of things and make a lot of stops in two weeks. Other times, scrapbooking tells the story of dance recitals that took place every year and chronicle growth and change. One of the most important stories I have even been honored to tell is the story of a life well-lived. Families and friends sent me their favorite memories of my Dad. I placed them along with photos in a scrapbook for him to read and enjoy as he walked through the final year of his terminal illness. It was a gift for him to know how much he was loved and appreciated.
For me, scrapbooking is just one way to remember the story I am blessed to live.
