Weekly Product Reviews

Hi!  And welcome to the Product Review Section of ScrapVille's website.  Recently, I have been using tools and various items - some new to the market, some that have been out for a long time and when I love something, I want to share it with everyone!  So, I decided to start putting reviews out of products - whether they are new or old to the market.  Hopefully, you enjoy my comments, ideas, pictures, and hopefully a few videos.

Enjoy!

I have had many many many paper cutters. I love tools. Up until being introduced to the Fiskars SureCut trimmer, I hadn't found one that I really liked. This is the BEST paper trimmer that I've ever used. It is spot on accurate. I highly recommend it. ~KW

I have several paper trimmers but this is my favorite one. I love having the wire to show exactly where my cut will be. I use that all the time and make less mistakes when cutting. It is easy to carry with you when going to a crop. The size and the pull out arm are great. My old trimmer had a smaller bed to lay the paper on and you kind of had to guess whee the 5 inch and 6 inch mark were as they got lost in the pull out arm. So this one is so much better as all the inch marks are totally visible so you don't have to guess and hope for the right cut. The rubber feet at each corner keep it from sliding around while you are cutting. You have the inch marks on top and bottom so you can cut from top to bottom or bottom to top.  ~JP

Fiskars SureCut Paper Trimmer Product Review

I love my large rotary paper trimmer for big projects but it certainly takes up a lot of room, doesn't go to 12" wide and there is no room for the paper with the sku on the bottom, it was hard to get accurate cuts, etc.  I still have my rotary trimmer for larger projects and cutting thicker papers and chipboard.

I also had a small, basic paper trimmer as well but the cuts weren't always straight, it was only 4.25" wide which I hated when I made cards, and I had to use the swing bar all the time!

Well, let me tell you, make an investment and spend your money on a good paper trimmer and you'll be in heaven!  I love this Fiskars SureCut Paper Trimmer.  I have sold over 100 of these paper trimmers since I opened in 2010 and there is a reason for it.  The base is wide, over 6"!  I love that I hardly ever open the swing bar for extended sizes - BUT when I do, the bar holds in place and doesn't wobble so I can get the sizing just right.  The guide for the blade cuts my paper completely straight vs. a wavy straight line my old basic paper trimmer did.  There is room on the right side of the cut line for easy cuts up to 1.25".  The base will allow the paper to have the sku on the bottom so you don't have to cut it off first.  The bar can be locked down for transportation.  There is a wire guide so you accurately see where you will cut your paper.

Cannot say it enough, this is a great, fabulous paper trimmer and you won't be disappointed!

Pros
-Larger base
-Lines are printed on the base for easy cutting measurements
-Accuracy with the triple track design and wire guide
-Accurate for stopping where you want to stop on the paper

Cons
- Using the scoring blade you have to go over the paper a few times to get a good groove, I prefer to use my scoring board
- I don't cut my chipboard on it, at least the thicker chipboard because I have ruined my wire from it.  I prefer using my rotary trimmer or Xacto Knife

Tips
-Use the guide lines and you can make frames and various fun folds and cuts

Cost
-Paper Trimmer - $35
-Replacement Blades - $6.50
-Replace Blade and Scor Blade - $6
